Using Student Response Systems in the College Classroom
EDTC 6320 Collaborative Project
Eric Folks, Eddie Mathews, Jessica Pettyjohn, Marni Saenz
A Problem to be Addressed:
College classes containing 30-50 students may be a challenge for some instructors, but most would consider it manageable. Now, imagine a class containing 100 or more students. Imagine what it would be like to be the instructor of that class. Or, imagine what it would be like to be a student in that class. It doesn't take much imagination to consider the challenges and related problems of such a setting -- for both teacher and student.
The focus of this project is the problem of low student participation in large college classes. We believe a solution exists that not only addresses this problem, but also addresses several other related problems common to both instructors and students involved in large classes. That solution is the use of a student response system, commonly called "clickers."
Research Focus & Assigned Roles:
Our team used the ADDIE model to identify a common problem in the college classroon and to find a strong solution. ADDIE is a five-phase systematic instructional design model where each phase has an outcome that feeds into the next phase of the sequence.

Everytime I try to request access I get an error message (last week and this week).

Jessica, since you can post, can you add me (and any others) to the admin list? Thanks in advance.

Hey team? I was playing around with titles...added one for us to think about: "To Click or Not to Click, That is the Question." Or "Every Question Deserves an Answer" (or a blend of the two). Or, we can keep it simple like the original statement. I tool out "clicker" and parenthesis and added "Student" to make the title flow better.

I decided to work on the "Problem to be Addressed" section. This is out of my head so no citation is needed. Feel free to expand or edit as needed. Thinking more about the problem helped me to gear-up for my part, Design. Maybe the exercise will help you too. We could each add something to make the project tone a truly collaborative one.

I added the "Research Focus & Assigned Roles" and also added a navigational link.
